Frequently Asked Questions
Who is Doors Within for?+
Helping professionals: social workers, psychologists, sexologists, community workers, relationship coaches, educators, and other practitioners who support relational growth.
How could Doors Within help the individuals I support?+
Rather than focusing only on what someone should or shouldn't do, Doors Within helps individuals better understand themselves through real life scenarios and guided reflection. Participants are invited to explore their needs by paying attention to their inner signals, recognizing patterns and barriers that may make boundaries difficult to identify or communicate, and reflecting on the values they want their boundaries to protect. Through play, the game also fosters connection, helping participants recognize that boundary challenges are common and that they are not alone in their experiences.
Can I use it in both one-on-one and group settings?+
Yes. Doors Within includes a card-based format for individual or group sessions of 2-15 people, and a board-game format for groups of 2–6 people.
Does Doors Within support video calls with participants?+
No. Doors Within does not include built in video calling. If you are meeting with participants by video, simply use your usual video call platform in another window while running Doors Within alongside it. Participants join Doors Within from their own devices and have access to the controls they need during gameplay. Alternatively, you can share your screen so you and your participants can follow the game together on one screen. Participants can still use their own devices when they need to take an action or when it is their turn to play.
Is it available in French?+
Yes. The full experience is available in English and French, and can be switched at any point during a session.
How long does a session take?+
Session length is flexible and can be adapted to you, your setting, and the needs of the individuals you support. Individual sessions can be as quick as 20 minutes, depending on how you choose to use the game and the depth of discussion. Group sessions may take longer as participants have more opportunities to share and engage with others within gameplay. With a full group, Round 1 typically takes approximately 60 minutes, followed by approximately 20 minutes for Round 2.
Do I need any training to facilitate the game?+
No formal training is required. Doors Within is designed to be used within your existing professional scope and facilitation style. Clear gameplay instructions, built in reference pages, and flexible facilitation options help you get started with confidence.
